Austrian Pine (Pinus Nigra)

Pinus sylvestris, Scots Pine 70 to 80 cm, one of several being unloaded and lowered into a new home on a golf course

Fagus sylvatica, Beech, one of a number of semimature trees going into a private garden at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

The above pictures show an oak being rootballed and moved at Stradbally Hall, venue of the Electric Picnic. A new layout for Picnic 2020 required us to move the oak and two lime trees. These three were supplied by Derrylea Trees in 2011 as semimature specimens and the owners were most keen to save them as the oak is host to 200 beneficial insects and therefore very attractive to birdlife. Limes are particularly attractive to bees, under threat from intensive farming methods. Stradbally Hall has a constant tree planting program with the environment foremost of priorities.

THE UNDERCUTTING SYSTEM CARRIED OUT ON OUR DERRYLEA TREES NURSERY IS VITAL FOR SUCCESSFUL ESTABLISHMENT OF LARGER PLANTS

All semi-mature trees and instant hedging plants are very heavy and require machinery to plant. They have been undercut (root-pruned) and transplanted many times in their growing life. This is vital for successful establishment. We provide the full planting service, and offer aftercare and maintenance packages. We will also install the necessary irrigation.
